Reports To: Building Principal
Job Goal: Create a classroom environment that implements district approved curriculum to ensure an equitable, engaging and positive learning experience for all students.
Required Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree and possess a Washington state Teaching Certificate endorsed in music.
- Documented successful and effective teaching, substitute teaching, and/or student teaching experience.
- Course work and/or experience appropriate to assignment.
- Technical and working knowledge of Washington State learning standards.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, both verbally and in writing.
- Commitment to the District's vision, mission and goals.
- Ability and skills necessary to individualize instruction.
- Awareness and appreciation of diversity among individual students.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Knowledge of the Washington State learning standards for grades and subjects to be taught
- Plan, implement and evaluate classroom instructional activities consistent with the adopted district curriculum and standards
- Provide clear and focused instruction for all students by using a variety of teaching strategies that promote student engagement and interaction in order to meet the needs of all students
- Provide a climate conducive to student learning
- Collaboratively develop and implement common formative assessments in order to monitor student learning
- Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with grade level team members and other staff, administrators, parents/legal guardians and community members
- Work with minimal supervision and be flexible
- Regularly demonstrate professionalism in appearance, actions, decisions and overall performance
- Maintain strict confidentiality of student information; know and abide by FERPA rules
- Maintain an understanding of Affirmative Action, Title IX, and accommodations as directed within IEP or 504 plans
Terms of Employment:
- Contract: 180 days
