Reports To: Transportation Director

 

Job Goal: Safely transport students to and from school and other authorized locations while maintaining a safe, orderly, and professional transportation environment.

 

Required Qualifications:

• Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Washington State Driver's License and any other license, endorsement, or certification required for this position.
• Must meet and continue to meet all standards and regulations established by Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI), the State of Washington, and other applicable regulatory agencies.
• Must successfully complete all required pre-employment and ongoing drug and alcohol testing, as applicable to the position.
• Must successfully complete any required physical examination and meet applicable health requirements.
• Must be able to demonstrate the ability to lift up to 50 lbs upon hire and maintain ability to perform the physical requirements of the position throughout employment.
• Successfully complete required driver training, including 20+ hours of initial training or other training as required by applicable regulations.
• Must successfully complete fingerprinting and required criminal background checks.
• Must maintain an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with students, parents/guardians, staff and the public.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding students and District information.

Performance Responsibilities:

• Drive a District van on regularly scheduled routes and other authorized trips as assigned.
• Safely transport students in accordance with District procedures and applicable state and federal requirements.
• Maintain appropriate control and supervision of passengers as related to safe transportation.
• Ensure students follow established safety procedures while entering, riding in, and exiting the vehicle.
• Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip inspections and promptly report safety concerns, mechanical problems, or needed repairs.
• Ensure the vehicle is checked after each route or trip to verify that no students or belongings remain in the vehicle.
• Maintain the van in a clean, safe, and fueled condition.
• Follow established routes, schedules, loading/unloading procedures, and student transportation plans.
• Report accidents, incidents, student behavior concerns, and other transportation related issues to the Transportation Director in accordance with District procedures.
• Participate in required driver training and professional development necessary to maintain qualifications for the position.
• Perform such other related duties as may be directed by supervisor.

 

Terms of Employment:

• Hours: 1 hour per day; schedule and hours may vary based on District transportation needs.
• Salary: Per PSE Salary Schedule
